Orange County Coder has been providing technology lessons to the seniors at Lakeview Senior Center for the past few years, and we are proud to announce that we will now be expanding the program to the Trabuco Senior Center. In our Senior Center Technology Tutoring program, our volunteers teach seniors about technology across multiple devices every weekday.

On August 15, 2016, 22 high school volunteers gathered in Lakeview Senior Center for an orientation and tutor training. Matthew Stevens, the Community Services Senior Leader, welcomed the new volunteers, giving them a rundown of the senior center and its programs. New and old volunteers were introduced to each other through various ice-breaker activities and were soon laughing together comfortably. Stevens then took the group on a tour through the senior center, displaying its computer room, multi-purpose rooms, and other places volunteers would be able to tutor the seniors. After listing off general guidelines, advice, and rules of etiquette, the orientation came to an end with each tutor looking forward to the beginning of their time volunteering at the senior center.
